MakePlay players build and play from all over the world — which means the best comment under your game might arrive in Japanese, Portuguese, or Arabic. Until now you could tell it was probably nice. Now you can actually read it: every comment translates to your language with one tap.
One tap, both ways
When a comment isn't in your language, a small Translate link appears under it. Tap it and the comment switches to your language; tap Show original and it switches right back. Nothing is replaced behind your back — the original text is always one tap away, exactly as the author wrote it.
Your language, in this story, is simply the one your browser already speaks — or the one you picked in the site's language switcher, if you've set it. No settings to hunt down.
Smart enough to stay out of the way
- 18 languages. English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch — translate from any of them, into any of them.
- No pointless buttons. If a comment is already in your language, there's no Translate link at all. The page checks the script and the wording before it bothers you — Chinese readers don't get a translate button on Chinese comments.
- Translated once, shared by everyone. The first person to translate a comment does the work for the whole planet: the translation is saved with the comment, so the next reader in your language gets it instantly.
Small rules, no surprises
- Sign in to translate. Reading comments is open to everyone; asking the AI to translate one takes an account. Already-translated comments show up translated for signed-in readers with zero waiting.
- It's AI translation. Fast and usually spot-on for the way players actually write — slang, GGs and all — but if something reads oddly, the original is right there.
And one more thing: paste your screenshots
Comments also got a quieter upgrade this week: images now paste straight into the comment box. Copy a screenshot of your high score, hit paste in the comment field, and it uploads itself — no file picker, no upload button. Proof-or-it-didn't-happen just got a lot faster.
Why it matters
A game's comment section is where players cheer each other on, report the sneaky bug, and tell the creator what to build next. None of that should stop at a language border. Find a game on the Arcade, scroll to the comments, and see what the rest of the world has been saying about it.
